After Your Diagnosis

Making Your Nest

Before you make your nest – get the medical and responsible things out of the way first.

If you are very short of breath or are presenting with severe symptoms, you should call 9-1-1 (in the US) .

Assuming you are at home and feeling only slightly under the weather, the first thing to do is contact your primary care physician. If you get their answering service or have to leave a message saying you have tested positive for the Covid-19 Virus.

You should hear back within 12-24 hours.

When you talk to your doctor discuss:

  1. What should you be doing and ask for prescriptions.
  2. What symptoms or signs or severity of symptoms should be to contact the office again.
  3. What are the names of the top three hospitals he recommends that you should go to. (Note – verify which hospitals are in your health insurance network)
  4. Should you come into the office now?
  5. Should you have any tests taken and when?
  6. Discuss respiratory therapy and movement (see other article)

Assume you are contagious. If you are co-habitating, stake off a bedroom and a full bath for you to quarantine in.

Ask your housemates to also get testing.

Notify people you have been in proximity with for more than 5 minutes within the past 5 days that you are contagious and that they should quarantine / be tested.

Revisit your last will and testament / final preparations (Note you have over a 1 and 100% of dying….. and a 99 out of 100% of living so you should plan on paying your credit card bills and not be like that guy in the movie!)

Making Your Nest:
